Cong puts up
united show, Amarinder issues warnings
WSN Network
Baba Bakala: After
Amarinder Singh's return to centre stage following his appointment
as the Chairman of the Campaign Committee, the Punjab Congress is
trying to project an image of unity.
The show at Baba
Bakala on the occasion of Rakhar Punian was an attempt in that
direction as Amarinder Singh, Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur
Bhattal, PPCC acting chief Mohinder Singh Kaypee and senior leader
Jagmeet Brar came together on one stage.
“The state government
has failed to perform and had hardly done any development work. Road
network is in disarray, power crisis has hit Punjab badly and people
were disappointed with the government’s working,” Amarinder Singh
said.
“By framing the
Congress workers in false cases, the state government wants to
demoralise the Congressmen, but this will not go on for long. We
will take into account all these atrocities when we come to power,”
he said.
Police officials and
MLAs, who are harassing the Congressmen, won’t be spared once the
Congress comes to power, Capt Singh said. “I also warn that ‘boy’
who roams in Amritsar,” he said, referring to SAD Minister Bikramjit
Singh Majithia.
The former chief
minister said, “This government was working in a pathetic manner so
the time has come that you support us to win all the 13 Lok Sabha
seats.” Criticising the state government for harassing the Congress
workers, Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said, “Parkash
Singh Badal was regularly bringing money from the Centre, but still
a thankless Chief Minister said UPA was biased against Punjab.”
Meanwhile, CM Parkash
Singh Badal blamed the Congress party for being anti-Sikh and held
Congress-led UPA government for deliberately ignoring the interests
of state.
Expressing concern
over the looming danger of floods in various parts of the state,
Amarinder said, “I wonder who is running the state, son or father.
They have not been able to address even the basic issues as yet and
people were suffering due to their attitude.”
Challenging Badal on
the issue of registering cases against him, he said, “My advocates
will take care of the court cases, no matter how many more cases
they will file, but “mein baap put de magar lagya rahunga (I will
continue to keep a tab on father-son duo). He said once back in
power, he would not listen to any police official even if they came
with the recommendations from other Congress leaders. “I warn all
those, including MLAs, who are trying to implicate Congressmen in
false cases, to mend their ways. Else, they would be dealt with
accordingly,” thundered Amarinder.
Launching personal attacks on Badal family, he alleged that they had
purchased lands in Andaman and Mauritius for construction of hotels.
“I wonder from where they have got this much money,” he said.
