Court summons hostile witnesses
in Badal case
WSN Network
MOHALI: Some
good things happen when you come into government. Of the many
witnesses who deposed against Prakash Singh Badal and his son in a
corruption case, 38 changed their version and turned hostile.
Wonder of
wonders, even the investigating officer of the government, Surinder
Pal Singh, said he was all along telling the court and the world
that the Badals were corrupt under pressure. he was even signing all
the records and investigation documents under duress.
Now he had
recalled that Badals were absolutely in the clear, his memory
apparently helped by the fact that the Badals had come to power.
Now, a Mohali court has summoned all 38 witnesses who had turned
hostile for examination on September 14 in connection with the case
relating to alleged corruption against Punjab CM Badal, his son and
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, wife Surinder Badal and their
close relatives.
Additional and
Special Judge J S Kular said though the prosecution and defense
counsels had both argued that there is no “incriminating evidence”
to examine the accused as majority of prosecution witnesses examined
so far had not supported the its case but even then the evidence of
certain witnesses, who are being summoned, appears to be essential
to a decision of the case.
He ordered for
calling majority of those witnesses, who were not examined by the
prosecution before concluding its evidence in the case whose trial
is at its fag end.
