Vintage Amarinder: We will sack
'biased' police officers
WSN Network
JALANDHAR:
Politics in Punjab shows little sign of shedding bitterness. In his
typical style, former Punjab CM and senior Congress leader Amarinder
Singh, who is often blamed for introducing the politics of vendetta
later taken to new heights by Sukhbir Singh Badal, has now said that
once the Congress comes back to power, it will sack all "biased
police officers involved in framing Congressmen in false cases under
SAD-BJP rule".
Amrinder Singh,
on an initiative of Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, presented more
than 100 Congressmen and their families before the media here on
Monday to highlight the "political terror" allegedly engineered by
SAD.
Amarinder found
it a good opportunity to deliver his classic soundbytes. He said,
"We will invoke Article 311 of the Constitution to terminate the
services of biased police officers for carrying out the agenda of
Akalis as their henchmen."
He said a
commission of inquiry with a DIG-rank official would also be
constituted to specifically investigate the false cases in the
Bholath constituency.
Khaira claimed
DIG B.K Uppal in an inquiry into 20 FIRs registered by the
Kapurthala police had specifically mentioned 10 cases as false,
while many of the accused were found innocent in seven. Uppal
recommended proceedings under Section 182 of the IPC against the
complainants, but Sukhbir Badal intervened to save the Akalis,
Khaira alleged.
