Conference begins on Dec 18

Toronto: The 2nd
Global Sikh Civil Rights Conference will begin here on December 18
and will focus on the theme of "Preserving Our Past and Investing in
Our Future". The three day conference (December 18, 2009 to December
20, 2009) will witness participation by eminent human rights
lawyers, politicians, judges, activists, multifaith representatives,
Sikh organizations and community leaders, and participants from all
over the world who will actively engage in dialogue about issues
that affect the Sikh nation.
The conference is
free of cost, but registration may be required. Issues that are
likely to come up for discussion would include Right to Kakaars,
Racial Profiling, Discrimination, Right to Turban, Sikh Leadership,
and Women’s Rights. The Global Sikh Civil Rights Report 2009 will
also be released. The brief schedule released by the organisers said
on Dec 18, the venue will be Ontario Khalsa Darbar (5:00-10:00
P.M.). Key topic will be Sikh Women's Rights/Roles/Issues. Next day,
he venue will shift to Chandni Banquet Hall for discussions on Sikh
Civil Rights while the concludind day will see participants
discussing Sikh Leadership Past, Present & Future at Sikh Spiritual
