AMRITSAR:
Indian death row
prisoner in Pakistan Sarabjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur has put off
her visit to the Pakistan High Commission in
Delhi
to obtain visas for a trip to the neighbouring country to submit a
fresh petition seeking clemency for her brother.
She postponed
her visit following an assurance from Pakistan's outgoing Human
Rights Minister Ansar Burney on the phone that he would help her get
the visas for the entire family when he comes to India next month,
Dalbir told mediapersons here that Burney informed her that he was
coming to India on April 2 and visit Bikhiwind, Sarabjit's native
village.
She has also
been asked by Burney to keep ready all the documents which could
prove the innocence of Sarabjit Singh, she said, adding, it was
pointless going to the Pakistan High Commission now that Burney had
assured to help her get the visas. Burney was the man who had helped
secure the release of Kashmir Singh, the alleged spy released from
Pakistan jail after 35 years.
