Kerman sangat underlines need to
educate locals about Sikhs

KERMAN:
At a gathering of the Central Valley Sikh Community at the
Annandgarh Sahib Sikh Gurdwara, Kerman, speakers emphasized the need
for immediate attention to be paid to issue of educating other races
of America about the identity of the Sikhs so that they are not
mistaken as Muslims.
The sangat at
the gurdwara, situated at
680 Vineland
Avenue,
Kerman
CA,
celebrated the Gurpurab of the founder of Sikh religion, Sri Guru
Nanak Dev ji, on Sunday November 8. The function was organized by
the Sikh Council of Central California (SCCC) that represents about
30,000 Sikhs living in the valley.
Mr. Terry
Ashmore from Fresno County Sheriff’s Department was invited to this
event and was honored for his support to the Sikh Community.
Those who have
contributed to the education system were commended for their
dedication and hard work in our community. These included Dr. Onkar
Singh Bindra, Mrs. Pushpinder Kaur, Dr. Mahinder Singh Madaan, Mr.
Chris Williams, Mrs. Gurpreet Dhillon, Mrs. Sunny Dhillon, Mrs.
Ravinder Kaur, Mr. Gurdeep Shergill, Mrs. Jatinder Purewal, Mrs.
Gurdeep Sihota, Mrs. Mohani, Thiara, Mrs. Davinder Kaur Sidhu and
Major Raghbir Singh Gill.
Langar, the
community lunch was also served to those who had graced the event
with their presence. Sikh community collected blankets from the
residents of the Central Valley and donated them to Poverello House
of Fresno.
