Kalyan leaves
Samajwadi for own kalyan
WSN Network
Lucknow/New
Delhi: A day after he was publicly snubbed by Mulayam Singh Yadav,
ally Kalyan Singh ended the uneasy 10-month pact, calling the
Samajwadi Party chief “a traitor”. The BJP chief minister of UP at
the time of the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, Kalyan Singh on
Sunday rediscovered his RSS roots, indicated his willingness to
return to the “nationalist” BJP and called for a Ram temple in
Ayodhya.
“Mein RSS ka
swayamsewak tha aur abhi bhi hun (I was and I remain a worker of the
RSS),” Kalyan Singh told reporters in
Lucknow.
On the BJP, Kalyan Singh said “there were some problems” in the
party but with RSS chief “Mohan Bhagwat taking its charge, BJP will
soon emerge stronger”.
His son Rajbir
Singh resigned from the Samajwadi Party, saying “there is no point
in staying in a party where my father and his supporters are
insulted”. Asked about the possibility of joining the BJP, Kalyan
Singh said, “All options are open”. Now, both father and son have
said that they “will strengthen Hindutva".
Kalyan said
accepting the friendship with Mulayam was a huge mistake. Just a day
earlier, Mulayam dissociated himself from Kalyan Singh after
daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav’s shock defeat in the Firozabad
by-election.
Clearly, the SP
is realising that Kalyan Singh’s joining the party had angered the
Muslims.
AT one time,
after demolition of Ayodhya's mosque, Kalyan was considered next
only to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani. Now, he wants to go
back to the BJP since there will be vaccum after Rajnath Singh
leaves top slot.
As one newspaper
noticed, Kalyan Singh’s venue for the press conference in Lucknow
gave more than a peek into his mind — old hoardings of Kalyan with
Vajpayee, Rajnath Singh, former UP Assembly Speaker Kesari Nath
Tripathi and state BJP leader Lalji Tandon were seen at the hall
where he addressed the media.

The New KalyanSpeak is the old one
* "I want to
see a grand Ram temple built in Ayodhya during my lifetime.
Neither the Samajwadi Party nor Congress can do that. That is
why there is need to strengthen a ‘rashtravadi’ party which is
the BJP."
* "I will
soon visit Ayodhya to do penance for the damage I may have done
to the BJP." |
