Hari Puttar gives a run to Harry
Potter
WSN Bureau
Bollywood
imitating
Hollywood is not
a new phenomenon. A good number of Indian cinema films are a rehash
of good and bad
Hollywood
films.
The roaring
success of Harry Potter made some enterprising film entrepreneurs to
adapt the title in an Indian way or rather in a half-Hindi,
half-Punjabi way. And thus was born Hari Puttar –literally meaninng
Hari, my son.
According to the
producers, Mirchi Movies, there is no resemblance either to the
story or to the name, except the H and the P. Warner Brothers would
not buy that and though the name is in circulation for a good two
years, the
Hollywood film
company has launched proceedings against Mirchi for stealing the
name. Some say that the movie is an adaptation of Hollywood movie,
Home Alone.
Not to be
outdone so soon, despite of an injunction from the Delhi High Court,
the song, dance and promos of the movie are doing the rounds of
channels.
Highlighting the
fact that the movie would be a trendsetter for children’s movie in
the country, the producers are engaging the media on that front
while Warner’s franchise J K Rowling talk about infringement of
intellectual property rights.
Hari Puttar is
produced by Lucky Singh Kohli and directed by Rajesh Bajaj and has
Sarika, Jackie Shroff, Zain Khan (Hari Puttar), Saurabh Shukla and
Lilette Dubey in the cast.
All we know is
that the story revolves around a Punjabi family settled in the
UK and it
has escapades of a young boy named who is left with his friend in a
mansion and has a task in hand when it comes to facing two
intruders.
As the court has
again postponed a decision, in the coming days, we would know
whether it is a Comedy of Terrors or a Comedy of Errors.
