in Ludhiana cinema blast

Ludhiana: Seven people lost their lives and 32 were injured when a
bomb went off in Ludhiana's Shringar cinema on Sunday night. The
blast, which the police said was caused by a low intensity bomb, hit
a packed weekend audience. Most of the people watching the film in
the cinema hall at that time were out to celebrate Eid.
Even without any evidence, the Indian media was quick to pronounce
that it must be the work of Babbar Khalsa or Harkat-ul-Jihadi or any
other Sikh or Muslim organization.
Yesteryear mass murderer, former Punjab DGP KPS Gill, was quick to
add that the hand of 'terrorists' involved in the Khalistan
agitation could not be discounted.
Initial investigations suggested that a man planted the explosive
device during the interval. A red alert was sounded in Punjab after
the strike. “We suspect that the motive behind the blast is to
disturb the peace and harmony in the state. If the blast turns out
to be an act of terrorism, it will be dealt with accordingly,” said
media adviser to the chief minister, H S Bains. The Shahi Imam of
Ludhiana Habibur Rahman said, “It’s an attempt to disturb the
communal harmony and we will not let terrorists succeed in their
plans.”
