Rajasthan minority panel writes to royal family on Kirpan issue
WSN Network

Jaipur: The Rajasthan state minority commission has written a letter to the royal family seeking details related to the Kirpan of the Tenth Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh. In a letter written to Maharani Padmini Devi of Jaipur, state minority commission chairman Sardar Jasbeer Singh has sought details related to some media reports saying that the Kirpan of Guru Gobind Singh is under the possession of the royal family.

"We have written a letter to them and have asked to clarify the status of the Kirpan of the Guru," he said.

Meanwhile, PCC spokesperson Param Navdeep Singh has claimed that the holy sword is lying in the city palace and demanded that it should be given back to the Sikh community. Maharani Gayetri Devi of the Jaipur royal family could not be contacted.

Earlier, some local dailies had published news items saying that the Kirpan of the Sikh guru is lying in the city palace under the possession of the royal family of Jaipur.
