Sukhbir, Amarinder at it again as
shenanigans continue
WSN Network
PATIALA: In the
continuing shenanigans of the Punjab politicians and exhibiting a
brash dismissal of all democratic norms, Akali Dal's president
Sukhbir Singh Badal claimed, obviously on the basis of some
insider's knowledge, that “about six to seven foolproof scams worth
over Rs 1,000 crore” were in the process of being unearthed by
government departments against former chief minister Capt Amarinder
Singh.
So far, no
minister or official of the Badal government has said any such thing
but perhaps Sukhbir cares little about distinctions between the
party, government and family.
He said the
claimed scams pertained were "of the nature of the Intranet and
Ludhiana City Centre scam, and there would be no escape route for
him.”
The government
is examining all cases at the department level and would proceed
against Capt Amarinder “after strong cases are made out”, he added.
He did not say
how was he aware of the government files which were apparently
secret.
On his part,
Amarinder did ask Parkash Singh Badal the very next day to explain
in what capacity his son was making such statements.
Congress in
Punjab
has long been alleging, and not without reason, that Sukhbir was in
the habit of presiding over official meetings and handling official
files.
The former CM
told Sukhbir to "feel free to file as many cases as you wish."
"In your
arrogance, however, I hope you remember that
India is
governed by a Constitution and the rule of law that emanates from
it. We have a judicial system which protects individuals under this
law, against such vindictive acts by governments that are habitual
in flouting the law. By all means carry out your investigations by
your now infamous Vigilance Department and file your cases," he
said.
Incidentally,
Amarinder too followed a similar line of getting the Vigilance
Bureau to do dirty work against opponents and Sukhbir has taken a
leaf out of the same book, only he has sullied it more.
