Bhai Daljit Singh slams affidavit, wants Makkar to quit
WSN Network

Jalandhar: Intervening strongly in the imbroglio triggered by the SGPC's goof up in submitting an affidavit to the Punjab and Haryana High Court defining Sehajdhari as someone who can keep cutting his hair till he decides to become keshadhari, the Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Panch Pardhani) has demanded that taking moral responsibility of this highly improper act SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar should resign.

Addressing a press conference here, Dal President Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu and other leaders demanded that Akal Takht Jathedar should intervene in the issue and ask the SGPC to prepare and submit the "correct" affidavit in the High Court.

Bhai Daljit Singh said the Jathedar should also get identified the persons and forces who did all this and should take action against them.

SGPC secretary Harbeant Singh who signed and submitted the affidavit should be immediately sacked, the leaders demanded while also pointing a finger at Punjab Advocate General Hardev Singh Mattwal alleging that latter "had an active role in all this."

His role should also be put under scanner, Bhai Daljit Singh and other leaders demanded.

Once the expert panel, constituted by SGPC itself, gave its opinion in writing and executive committee of SGPC approved the draft of affidavit prepared and signed by the panel members, how could it be changed by anyone, he asked.

The party said the definition provided by the SGPC suited more the RSS' thinking and pronouncements. The leaders demanded that the ruling Akali Dal president should also spell out the position of his party clearly..
