Coalition of CA gurdwaras wants
2 jathedars out
WSN Network
Los Angeles: The
Coalition of Gurdwaras of California, and watchdog group Sikhs for
Preservation of Sikhism and Sikh Heritage have demanded that the
Jathedars of Hazur Sahib and Patna Sahib who consider the entire
Dasam Granth as composition of Guru Gobind Singh and give it a
status parallel/equal to Guru Granth Sahib Ji are in clear violation
of panthic maryada and thus should not be invited to Sri Akal Takht.
The forums
representing Diaspora Sikhs condoled the death of Darshan Singh
Lohara in police firing and condemned the activities of Ashutosh.
They said Ashutosh landed in Punjab in 1980s from relative obscurity
but has since enjoyed political backing and protection by the Indian
establishment.
They were
apprehensive of the ruling Akalis, and said they were doing more
harm to the cause of Sikhs. Members of the Coalition and the
watchdog agency were also skeptical of the move by Akal Takht in
which Prof. Darshan Singh Ragi, a spiritual leader was declared
tankhaiya.
Incidentally,
the five clerics who acted against Prof. Darshan Singh also included
three who have already made clear their stand that they were
pro-Dasam Granth. Thus, the appearance turned into a charade due to
political tug of war between the ruling Akali/BJP alliance and their
opponent Congress party that supported Prof. Darshan Singh.
