Look Who’s Talking: Punjab SSP says police framing
his son in false case

WSN Bureau

JALANDHAR: For decades now, people of Punjab do not believe anything that the Punjab Police says or claims. Now finally, you have what Americans really would love to call "a situation." A multi-millionaire son of an SSP (a very senior police rank) has been caught by the police in a diamond robbery, and diamonds worth Rs 4 crore recovered from his house, but the SSP father says it is all a big lie and the police was trying to frame his son.

So here you have it. A police SSP says police is framing his son. The SSP himself is accused by opposition leaders of trying to frame them as he is leading many inquiries into former CM Amarinder Singh and others' cases.

Shiv Kumar is an IPS officer, currently Patiala Vigilance Bureau SSP. Police has arrested his son Mohit Sharma, for allegedly robbing a Mumbai-based diamond trader of precious stones last Thursday night. Jalandhar SSP Pawan Kumar Rai has confirmed that police has arrested Mohit and his security guard for their involvement in the loot of the diamonds which were recovered from his residence. Mohit had helped Mumbai-based diamond trader Vivesh Shah to hire a taxi fromLudhiana for Amritsar. later, it was found that the taxi driver and others were the ones who carried out the robbery.

Now, Shiv Kumar has put question marks on the probe but Jalandhar SSP had a terse comment to make: "He can ask for a CBI inquiry if he doubts our inquiry." Shiv Kumar himself must have said this to hundreds of innocent people complaining to him about the ham handed ways of the police. Interestingly, Mohit seems to have been a victim of never satiating greed. He was asuccessful businessman in the eyes of diamond merchants of the city. Mohit was a jack of many trades. He would start a profession and jump to another whatever he fancied. He was a persuasive insurance agent and a model also.

After starting his career as a model, he has worked with many big names in the modelling industry like Sayed Zulfi of Big Boss fame, Mark Robinson and Dino Moria. After trying his luck in modelling, he switched his attention to the corporate world and became an insurance agent. He did well, thanks to his family’s contacts. Finally, he tried his hand in the diamond trade and owned a franchise of D’dmas diamonds.
