Fremont: On Sikh
Turban day, an international event to raise awareness of Sikhism,
Khalsa School has started the Meri Dastar Class. The purpose of this
effort is to help kids realize the significance and spiritual
benefits of a turban by teaching them how to tie a Dastar.
The fact that many kids at
Khalsa School are
unable to tie a dastar and that a number of parents don't know how
to do it, the need was apparent.
With the help of Hardeep Singh Aulakh of Sikh Turban Day and
Professor Lalli Dhanoa, Khalsa School Fremont has started this
class.
Bhai Jaswinder S Jandi, Harpal S Mann, Dr.Jagtar Singh Sandhu,
Pal Singh, Tejinder Singh Dhami, Kuldip S Bajwa, Kulwinder Singh
Khalsa School Principal, Professor Lalli Dhanoa, Gurinder S Sidhu,
Harjinder Singh Braich, Teacher Kulbir Singh, Teacher Amrinder Singh
and community volunteers participated at the opening. Bhai Harjot
Singh Khalsa requested the whole Sikh sangat of Bay Area to send
their kids to the “Meri Dastar” class. The class is completely free
and participants are also provided with a Dastar. The class will be
held every Sunday afternoon.
