General Body Meeting held at Fremont Gurdwara
WSN Network

Fremont: Every year, Fremont Gurdwara Sahib management holds General body meeting in the 2nd week of April. At this year's meeting, treasurer Harjinder Singh Braich provided details on the progress report issues two months ago. He also explained that there were no pending bills of construction. In fact, the only due loans are of the amount of $155,000, which members of sangat have given without interest. Currently, the Gurdwara Sahib has a cash balance of $54,000 but there is a big loan of $1,453,000 from the hillside purchase that has a monthly payment of $10,203.00. Bibi Sarabjit Kaur Cheema praised the Committee for its openness by allowing any members of sangat to talk on stage as well as for cooperation in projects such as the kids' summer camp.

Bhai Harjot Singh Khalsa, the president of Gurdwara Sahib, promised that just like last year, Fremont Gurdwara will not be sending any invitations or immigration sponsorship letters, giving donations to various organizations, or publish any kind of paid advertisement in the newspapers. He further explained that the committee is committed to do small projects such as sound system improvement, paint job at all the buildings, carpet change and putting new tiles at the new Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Hall. Furthermore, the stage will be continued to be used only for religious, not political purposes.

Bhai Satnam Singh Khalsa, secretary of the Gurdwara Sahib, provided details on all the religious programs. From April 17-19, there will be 21 Akhand Path Sahibs to mark the Vaisakhi and in the memory of Sikhs martyred in 1978. In May, there will be 15 Akhand Path Sahibs to celebrate 11 Bhats and 4 Gursikhs. In June, there will be 25 Akhand Path Sahibs in the memory of June 1984 and 101 paths (84 Sukhmani Sahib, 11 Japuji Sahib and 6 Akhand Path Sahib) will be done in the memory of Guru Arjan Dev Ji from June 19-21, 2009. Such events are only possible with the support of kind volunteers, he said.
