Sikh Youth of America launches
signature drive for Bhai Bittu
WSN Network
NEW YORK: The
Sikh Youth of America has decided to launch a signature campaign to
press for the release of Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, chairperson of
Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) and his associates arrested by the Punjab
Police in false cases.
SYA president
Bhai Gurinder Singh Maana said under the signature campaign, the
memorandums signed by the managements of all gurdwaras, Sikh
religious and political organizations and general members of the
sangat will be sent to United Nations, Amnesty International, other
Human Rights Organizations, President of India and Chief Justice of
India.
A program is
being mounted in various gurdwaras in the coming few days to get
such petitions signed.
Condemning the
arrest of Bhai Daljit Singh, the SYA has said the activities of many
anti-social groups working in the name of religion were becoming a
matter of deep concern in India but the government was more
interested in putting behind bars men of integrity like Bhai Bittu
who was operating a completely democratic framework.
It said Bhai
Bittu was clearly arrested because he was aggressively leading a
movement against Sirsa based fraudster sadh Gurmit Ram Rahim who has
been found by none other than the CBI of India as a prime accused in
multiple rape and murder charges.
The SYA has
appealed to all shades of Sikh Diaspora to come under one banner and
unite on this issue.
