Fremont Gurdwara celebrates Guru Ramdas’ Prakash Diwas

FREMONT: The Prakash Diwas of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji was celebrated with much religiosity and enthusiasm at Gurdwara Sahib, Fremont with a number of kirtani jathas, kathakaars and panthic scholars participating at the function. Later, speakers offered tributes to martyrs Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha. Kavishars paid the tribute in their own typical style of rendering of ballads. 

Dedicated to the fourth Sikh Master, the three day function that coincided with the Bandi Chorr Diwas saw 31 Akhand paths, Sri Sukhmani Sahibs and Sri Japuji Sahib. The bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib were performed on Sunday. 

Kirtani jathas that rendered gurbani included Bhai Paramjit Singh Sachiar, Bhai Ramanjeet Singh, Giani Gurpreet Singh, former Huzuri Ragi of Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Dilbag Singh of Damdami Taksal besides Kavishari jatha of Bhai Gurdev Singh. Katha-vachak Sant Kirpal Singh ji Patiala wale and Bhai Tarsem Singh ji also participated. 

Among those who performed sewa with a proactive initiative were the oner of the Italian restaurant Bhupinder Singh, A-One Interior Decoration’s Bhupinder Singh, Raja Sweets’ Giani Ravinder Singh, Makhan Singh Bains, Mehfil Restaurant’s Satnam Singh Bal, veteran sewadar Baba Bikkar Singh, Baba Harbant Singh, Baba Chhinda Singh, Baba Jeet Singh, Baba Bhagat Singh, Baba Bhajan Singh and his son Amrik Singh, Mata Daljit Kaur, Mata Malkit Kaur, Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Harpal Singh, Dr Gurpal Singh and Tejpal Singh. 

It will be pertinent to mention that at a time when Punjab is witnessing the increasing influence of Dehdhari gurus and dera culture, the Fremont Gurdwara Sahib management under the leadership of Bhai Harjot Singh Khalsa is consistently holding religious events dedicated to the tercentenary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib’s Guru’ta Gaddi Day.
