Minister Bikramjit to marry
WSN Network

PUNJAB CM Parkash Singh Badal often used to tease Bikramjit Singh Majithia , asking journalists to find a match for him. One has been found. The 31-yearold Minister, better known for being a brother-in-law of  brash and pushy Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, will be marrying Ganieve Garewal, daughter of Avinash Garewal of Delhi.

Neither Bikramjit, nor his intended fiance nor Sukhbir ordinarily use “Singh” or “Kaur” in their names except in official press releases and documents. Consequently, Indian media also routinely drops the suffix.

The date for the wedding is not clear. Bikramjit will be celebrating his birthday on March 1. He is known to enjoy powers far outside the reach of his Information and Public Relations Ministry, thanks to the kinship with the House of Badals.

Majithia’s sister Harsimrat says the family of the bride-to-be — “from historical  Badrukha village of Sangrur” — wants it to be a grand affair, but the Majithias may like to keep it a low-key affair.
