Tytler's party list calls
India's Speaker a Chamar
WSN Network
NEW DELHI: Lok
Sabha Speaker Meira Kuamr in India was called a Chamar in an
official list of the Congress party's office bearers in Bihar by
none other than Jagdish Tytler, the man Congress made incharge of
the party affairs in the politically crucial state of Bihar after
his Lok Sabha ticket was denied because of Sikh protests.
Tytler is
accused of leading murderer mobs in
Delhi
that killed thousands of Sikhs.
The use of caste
names in the list of Bihar PCC office-bearers has landed Tytler in
serious trouble. Meira Kumar was made a permanent invitee to the PCC
even though she is not supposed to have any party affiliation as a
Speaker. Besides she was listed as a Chamar, a derogatory word. On
her part, Meira Kumar said, “I belong to a political party. As a
Speaker, I believe in strict neutrality of the chair.”
Congress
president Sonia Gandhi was apparently embarrassed by the use of
caste names in the list. It is not uncommon that political parties
in India use caste names but mostly behind closed doors and in real
politics. The list specifies the castes of the permanent invitees
and 99 special invitees.
