Akal takht jathedar talks of
formula search for dera row
WSN Network
AMRITSAR:
Clearly, under the new dispensation at the top temporal seat, it
will take quite some time for any decision on Dera Sirsa front. Akal
Takht's acting Jathedar Gurbachan Singh has said a solution to
tackle the confrontation with Dera Sacha Sauda would be hammered out
only after completion of Guru Granth Sahib Gurta Gaddi celebrations
in October.
Jathedar
Gurbachan Singh was quoted in the Indian media on Wednesday that the
bloodshed as a consequence of the confrontation was in no one’s
favour and he would consult other Jathedars, Panthic bodies, Sikh
and social organisations and scholars for a solution to the problem.
The Jathedar said it would be premature to suggest any formula in
advance.
It was never
said by anyone earlier that there was a search on for a formula. The
only demand was punishment and action against the fraudster baba.
“We will let you
know if things take a turn towards ending the mess,” he quipped.
Dera seems to be happy at the turn of events. Dera spokesperson Dr
Pawan Insan said they would appreciate any peace effort. “Gurmeet
Ram Rahim Singh also earnestly desires to strike peace with Sikhs.
He recently made a peace initiative, but it was turned down by the
Sikh hardliners,” he said.
Th dera even put
a figure to the number of Sikhs who are the fraudster's followers.
Some 40 lakh Sikhs figured among the 2.25-crore followers of their
sect, its spokesperson said, adding the Dera was always open for a
dialogue.
