Khalsa College registrar resigns
WSN Network
AMRITSAR: The
Registrar of Khalsa College here has put in his papers following
alleged differences with the principal. D.S.Pannu, registrar, has
accused principal Daljit Singh of creating an environment which had
made it impossible for him to carry on even though he had had been
the college registrar for over five years. In the copy of the
resignation sent to honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Chhina the
proceedings of a recent meeting of the Department of English had
been attached as an indication of the principal's style of
functioning. Chhina said, "The registrar's post is not a permanent
one. If the principal and the registrar do not go along well with
each other it is in the interest of the college that someone else
takes over. Pannu is a senior teacher of the college and is the head
of the English Department," he said. The principal insisted that
there was no difference of opinion with the registrar. "A registrar
has to be the seniormost lecturer of the college and therefore we
decided to appoint Jagjit Singh Padam of the Department of Political
Science as the new registrar," he said.
