WSN Network
TANDA: The mortal remains of Khalistan
ideologue Dr. Jagjit Singh Chauhan, who had died of a heart attack
on last Wednesday, were confined to flames at his farm in Tanda on
April 6.
Sikh leaders offered a “doshala”
with “Khalistan Zindabad” inscribed on it and shouted Khalistan
slogans when his foster son Rupinder Singh lit the funeral pyre. His
widow Charanjit Kaur had arrived from the Britain a day earlier.
Those close to Dr Chauhan had first
decided to take his body in the form of a procession from Jaja
village, where it had been kept, to his native village Nangal Khunga
and then to Tanda for cremation, but considering the hot weather and
the state of the body, it was directly taken to his farm for the
last rites.
Strict security arrangements had been
made at his residence and cremation site.
Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma,
Punjab Human Rights Commission chairman retired justice Ajit Singh
Bains, SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann and senior vice

Singh Calcutta, Wassan Singh Zaffarwal, Kanwarpal Singh Dhammi,
local MLA Sangat Singh Giljian and BJP leader Jawahar Khurana were
among those who attended the cremation.

paid to the Khalistan leader around the globe. International Babbar
Khalsa Germany's leader jathedar Resham Singh has said the passing
away of Dr. Jagjit Singh Chauhan is a loss to the struggle for a
Sikh land. He said Chauhan had spent more than two decades in exile
and was always found on the forefront.
