High Court provides blanket bail
to Amarinder
CHANDIGARH: In a
major relief to former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh,
the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued directions to Punjab
Police to issue seven days' notice if any wing wanted to arrest him
in any case.
Justice S.D.
Anand issued directions for granting a blanket bail on a petition
filed by Capt Singh, who had alleged politics of vendetta being
unleashed against him by the Akali-BJP government since it came to
power and that false cases could be registered.
Capt Singh's
petition stated that the SAD-BJP alliance did not seem to have any
agenda except to unleash revenge against its political opponents.
The manner and
method adopted by Punjab Police in arresting former DGP S.S. Virk,
"ignoring all norms and rules of law, showed the work ing of a
vindictive mind which could go to any extent to take - revenge by
misusing the state machinery for involving opponents in false
cases", Capt Singh contended in his petition.
