Shameless BJP
wants death for Afzal Guru
WSN Network
MUMBAI: India's
death row convict Afzal Guru sought to put the right wing Hindutva
brand Bharatiya Janata Party to shame by saying that it will be
better if L K Advani becomes Prime Minister and hangs him but
perhaps he did not have an idea about the capacity of the saffron
band in India to retain its thick hide. The BJP president Rajnath
Singh on Monday said Afzal Guru should be hanged wuickly.
Rajnath also raised
the demand for a strong anti-terror law, saying the law enforcement
machinery was ill-equipped and the legal system was too slow to
handle terror cases. The BJP was willing to cooperate in any measure
to deal with terror.
Asked whether
Hindutva would continue to dominate the party’s election agenda, Mr.
Singh said “Hare Ram.” He said Hindutva was a way of life and could
not cause hatred or division. The BJP was committed to this
ideology.
The ruling Akali Dal
in Punjab is a sworn ally of the BJP and Parkash Singh Badal calls
it an alliance of the brothers which will remain for many 'janams'.
BJP spokesperson
Rajiv Pratap Rudy told journalists in New Delhi that Afzal’s
reported remarks on speeding up a decision on his death sentence
reflected poorly on the “indecisive nature and doublespeak” of the
government.
“Afzal’s allegation
of the UPA government being indecisive is a serious charge. The
Congress-led government has been indulging in doublespeak on the
issue probably due to its vote-bank politics. The decision of the
apex court needs to be implemented at the earliest.”
