And the award goes to...Babri demolisher!
WSN Network

NEW DELHI: In a development that speaks volumes about media’s scruples, or lack thereof, the NDTV news channel gave away a Lifetime Achievement award to India’s right-wing ultra-national Hindutva lobby leader L K Advani simply because he had turned up for the annual function of the channel and had to be given something. Viewers had voted for Politician of the Year and Delhi CM Shiela Dixit won it but NDTV did not want to embarrass the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and came up with the idea: Give him a supra award! In times of reprisal terrorism and renewed talk of Ram Temple, what signal did the NDTV send with this award? In one fell, the channel lost much of the credibility it earned with somewhat passable coverage of Gujarat riots presided over by Narendra Modi, a man Advani sees as future of the BJP. It is now learnt that some of the liberal shades associated with the awards jury, including Fali Nariman, Shashi Tharoor, Anu Agha and William Dalrymple, were not happy with the Advani award.
