Non-bailable warrants for arrest of
Sajjan Kumar in anti-Sikh carnage cases
WSN Bureau
NEW
DELHI: A
development that is likely to soothe the victim families of the 1984
anti-Sikh carnage, prime accused Sajjan Kumar is likely to be
arrested as the Kokardarma court where the case was being heard
issued non-bailable warrants against him, as he failed to appear in
the courts today. Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court refused
to grant him anticipatory bail and listed the case for February 18
to be heard by a regular bench of the court.
Sajjan Kumar had
been asked to personally appear in court in the cases relating to
two cases of killing of Sikhs in November 1984.
25 years too
late it may be, but with the Delhi High Court asking the Sessions
court to conclude the case within six months, the next months and
days are going to be eventful in the annals of justice in India. All
eyes are now focused to see whether the law enforcing agencies will
arrest Sajjan Kumar or allow him an opportunity to get relief from
courts, including the Supreme Court, if necessary or would he
surrender himself.
It would also be
interesting to know as to what would be the steps that the Congress
party would take to protect its leader around whom they have been
throwing a protective cover all these years.
