by Sangat at Airport
Satnam Singh Khalsa
SAN
JOSE: All passengers and others present at the
San Jose
International
Airport enjoyed the Langar prepared and distributed by Sikhs working
at the Airport to observe the Tercentenary celebrations of Guru
Granth Sahib and birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Sikh Sangat
and the managing committee of Gurdwara Sahib Fremont made special
efforts for the preparation of Langar.
Airport Staff
member and Gurdwara Sahib Fremont managing committee member Gurinder
Singh was assisted by members of the Supreme Council of the Gurdwara
including Jaswinder Singh Jandi, Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa and
Gurdwara Sahib president Harjot Singh Khalsa and others including
Rajdeep Singh Pannu and Tarlochan Singh Nihar. Each person
participated in the Sewa and the langar ran throughout the day till
the evening. All the leaders, while speaking to World Sikh News
appreciated the efforts.
Ranjit
Singh Akhara and Gurtej Singh Sandhu said that Guru Nanak has taught
us to share our earnings and the tradition of Langar was a unique
way to that, which was a distinct Sikh activity. Without malice and
favour, each one did Sewa and enjoyed doing it. Mr Sandhu said that
it is time to follow the teachings of our Gurus and there was no
scope for divisive tendencies. Amarjit Singh Hundal, a resident of
Fremont
for more than 8 years appreciated this unique effort of Gurdwara
Fremont. This, he said, was the best way to spread the word of the
Guru. The beauty of members of different communities partaking of
Langar was much appreciated and it became an occasion of
understanding each other's cultures.
The Sacha Sauda
of Guru Nanak and the spirit of Guru Granth Sahib were the prime
movers for the Sikhs and there was no room for creating dissensions
amongst the Sikhs. Kulvinder Singh from
Fremont expected
that such a Langar should become an annual feature as it was the
best religious sewa. Every non-Sikh came to know not only about the
Sikh religion but also about Sikh food.
Gurdwara
Fremont president Harjot Singh Khalsa promised to observe important
Sikh days at the airport.
