Punjab to slip into poll fever
again
WSN Network
CHANDIGARH:
Punjab will soon be in the grip of election fever once again as
the three Assembly seats of Jalalabad, Kahnuwan and Banur will go to
polls on August 3. Since Sukhbir Singh Badal cannot remain a member
of the ministry without being elected by July 21, there is no way he
can escape resigning. Chances are that he will quit Deputy Chief
Ministership and then fight the Assembly seat of Jalalabad that fell
vacant following election of Sher Singh Ghubaya to Lok Sabha
recently.
The Banur seat
had fallen vacant following the death of Akali minister Capt
Kanwaljit Singh in a road mishap while the Kahnuwan fell vacant as
sitting MLA Partap Singh Bajwa of Congress won Gurdaspur Lok Sabha
seat.
The last date
for nominations is July 16 and the votes would be counted on August
6.
