Giani Mohan Singh eased out in
peculiar circumstances
WSN Network
AMRITSAR: In
continuous of an unfortunate tradition, the Shiromani Gurdwara
Parbandhak Committee has now removed Jathedar Giani Mohan
Singh from his duties as additional head Granthi at Sri Harmandir
Sahib after reports that the cleric violated Sikh traditions by
celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary in a way that was not
commensurate with Sikhism’s teachings.
Giani Mohan
Singh who is currently in his 70s had officially retired at the age
of 58, but was granted an extension and allowed to continue seva as
Granthi at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Many have pointed to the SGPC’s
proclivity to sack, remove, dismiss, ease out clerics and one
wonders why such aberrations, had they indeed taken place, not
settled behind closed doors rather than making a public spectacle of
men entrusted with top temporal seats. The WSN has learnt that many
SGPC members were also present at the wedding anniversary party and
partook in anti-Gurmat activities, such as boliyaan and dancing.
Sources said video proof of the party was what did the cleric in.
