Shielf Dixit says her govt will
not oppose Kukki's plea
WSN Network
LUDHIANA: After
failing to rise to the occasion and take an early and informed
decision on the sentence of Ranjit Singh Kukki, the Sikh militant
who is now seen as an extra-ordinary human being who has set new
frontiers in what it means to take one's life in one's hands and
make meaning out of it when every given fact is against you, the
Delhi Government of Shiela Dixit has now said it has no intention of
opposing his plea.
Kukki, convicted
for the murder of Lalit Maken, has even won over the daughter of the
man he allegedly killed, and she too has appealed to the Shiela
Dixit to allow Kukki to live his life normally and move on.
Dikshit, who
presided over the annual convocation at
Guru
Nanak
Khalsa
College
here, said her government was indeed sympathetic towards Kukki who
was facing life imprisonment for the murder of Lalit Makan and his
wife. She said the issue of parole would be decided after the
elections by a review committee but made it clear that her
government would not oppose Kukki’s plea.
