Journalist Jarnail Singh who had flung a shoe at India's Home Minister P Chidambaram to protest denial of justice to victims of 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom has been sacked from service by his employer, the Dainik Jagran group.

Offially obtained information through RTI Act has revealed that Rs 60 lakh were spent on public ceremony of Sukhbir Singh Badal's swearing in as Deputy CM in January this year. On Thursday, July 1, he had to quit after failing to get himself elected as an MLA.

Akal Takht jathedar, SGPC president have opposed any move to scrap Section 377 of IPC and said Sikhs will not accept the July 2 Delhi High Court judgment terming private, consensual actions between adults of same gender as legal.
